How to take a good passport photo
Stand in front of a plain white or light wall, with light coming from the front (a window is perfect) and no shadows. Look at the camera with a neutral expression, no glasses and your hair off your face. Have someone take the photo at eye level from about 1.5 m (5 ft) away.
How to print it
Take the 4 × 6 in sheet to any photo kiosk, or print it on 4 × 6 photo paper at 100% with no “fit to page”. Then cut along the grey lines.
Questions and answers
Can I make the background white?
Yes: tick “White background (AI)” and an AI that runs in your browser separates you from the background and makes it white. Still, a photo taken against a plain light wall always gives the best result.
Will my photo be accepted?
If you follow the guide and your document’s rules, it should be. Still, each authority has the final say: always check the official page before you print or submit.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Everything is processed inside your browser, on your own phone or computer. Your photos never leave your device and nobody else can see them.
